Moss (born February 13 1977) is a former American footballer. He played in the
National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons , including the Minnesota
Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and the San
Francisco 49ers. Many consider him to be the greatest wide receiver of all
time, alongside Jerry Rice, he holds the NFL single-season touchdown reception
record (23 in 2007) as well as the NFL single-season record of touchdown
receptions for a rookie (17 in 1998) and is ranked second in the NFL all-time
regular season touchdown reception list, with 156. Moss is famous for his
ability to catch contested passes. The word "mossed" was coined by
the NFL and has now entered the football vocabulary, became popularized due to
the fact that he was a successful. Post-football, he was working with ESPN as
an analyst in the studio for their Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night
Countdown programs. Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. Moss attended DuPont
High School. This was one of the two schools that later merged to create
Riverside High School. He excelled in basketball, football and baseball. Randy
was also part of the school’s debate team. On the field of football, Moss led
the DuPont Panthers to two state championships in 1992 and 1993. The position
he excelled at was wide receiver. But he also played free safety, punted
kickoffs, and was the team's punter as well as kicker. He received the Kennedy
Award for West Virginia Football Player of the Year in 1994. Parade magazine
named him to their annual All-American high school football team in 1995. in
2009, named him among the 50 best footballers from high schools ever.
